In loving remembrance (2021-2025)

Initial Vet Visit

I noticed on the weekend that Lunar seemed to be struggling with his breathing. It was very labored. Short, fast inhales that were rapid. I kept a close eye on him and debated if I should take him to emergency. That would have been my only option since it was a Sunday. He made it through the day… alright. But he would only walk a little bit before needing to lay down. The poor guy just seemed so exhausted and was barely eating.

Luckily, we were able to get an appointment that next day on Monday! He always was so pleasant going anywhere. Great in the car ride, and calm and sweet to the people he meets. The doctor did her basic exam and decided it would be a good idea to get him x-rays and of course I said yes. She was thinking it might be asthma.

The results of the x-ray were shocking. Lunar did not have asthma, he had fluid in or around his whole right lung. It was so bad that he could barely even use it. My poor baby had been struggling to breathe with practically one lung! I’m so glad we got the x-rays done.

The doctor recommended that he got the fluid sampled and drained to find out what kind of fluid it was so we could see how to go about going forward. She recommended we take him to the emergency clinic as he may need to stay for a while and they were better staffed and had more equipment. I agreed that would be the best idea and I was able to take him right over from there. I didn’t realize all this would end up becoming… but he was a sweet, brave boy through it all.
